TEAM STUDY
TEAM (Technology and Exercise for African American Movement) is an online physical activity promotion study sponsored by the University of South Carolina, with collaborating investigators from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Louisiana State University. It is funded by Vanderbilt University School of Medicine/National Institutes of Health.

- Discover what the TEAM program is all about
- Learn whether you are eligible to participate
- Learn what you can expect to be asked to do if you decide to volunteer
Once you have viewed the presentation, you will:
- Gain access to the brief, online screening application
- Complete the application if you are still interested in volunteering to be a part of the study or contact the research team if you have additional questions
About the study
Welcome to the TEAM study, a proven physical activity promotion program delivered 100% online. Participants will receive a 12-week online physical activity promotion program designed with input from African American and Black adults in the Southeast U.S. with low physical activity levels and health behavior change experts. The research program is offered at NO COST to volunteers who qualify. You may qualify to join the TEAM study if you:
- are part of a self-selected team of 2-4 other persons in your social circle who meet the eligibility criteria
- self-identify as African American or Black
- reside in the Southeast U.S.
- engage in less than 150 minutes of moderate-intensity equivalent aerobic physical activity each week like brisk walking
- are between the ages of 18-65 years
- have a body mass index between 18.5 and 55
- have access to a computer, laptop, or tablet with an internet connection
- own a smartphone
- can walk at least ¼ of a mile without stopping
- are NOT engaging in another structured physical activity program
- are not being treated with insulin for type 1 or type 2 diabetes
